                Paperpots

Paper pots are small quantities of substrate, held together by a slip of paper or other non-woven material. Cuttings of young plants or seeds are placed in the pots and after rooting the plants, they are placed into the end-pot, including the paper pot.

Depending on what material is used to hold the substrate together, the slip of paper will degrade in time. The time needed for degrading depends mainly on:

#    the type of paper or other non-woven used

#    the temperature maintained during rooting

#    the humidity during the rooting

IHP does supply different types of paper to be used for this purpose, depending on what machine is used for manufacturing the pots and what the grower prefers for his culture.

Growers mostly produce paper pots for their own use only, but in the last few years more companies have specialized in producing paper pots and selling them to growers. These companies are still expanding their turnover as it saves the growers to invest in expensive machines themselves. Also these producers offer several sizes of pots, varying from 10 to 80 mm in diameter, delivered in the desired trays on the  desired date.

IHP does not supply such paper pots, only the paper or other non-woven used to produce them, but we can help a potential buyer to find the right producer as some of our clients are specialized in manufacturing the pots for growers of young plants.
